Question Novell at Cape FOSS event

By   |  November 27, 2006

The Cape Information Technology Initiative (CITI) will be hosting a lineup of forums, presentations and Q&A sessions next week. Offering a full morning of discussions, presentations and Q&A sessions, the highlight is an opportunity to question Novell directly over the current Microsoft deal.

Peter Hunter, regional manager of Novell, will deliver a brief presentation, followed by a question and answer session. With the OSS community in a flurry after the recent deal between Microsoft and Novell, this is bound to be an exciting opportunity for community members to have their say.

CITI was founded to promote the Cape as an IT hub and to grow the area’s IT sector. In this spirit, there will be presentations by Western Cape based companies dealing with OSS and involved in development. Which companies will be presenting has yet to be confirmed.

The morning will round up with a discussion over the FOSS Forum and the direction which it will take in 2007. Established as a joint initiative between CITI, the University of the Western Cape and Government, this forum aims to foster FOSS growth in the Western Cape and beyond. Development and skills enhancements are key areas of focus.

The event takes place at 44 Wale Street, Cape Town from 8am until noon on Thursday December 7.
