SCO, the company currently embroiled in an intellectual property dispute with IBM and the rest of the open source community, has announced it is suspending all shipments of SCOoffice Mail Server. The company says its plans to release a new version of SCOoffice Mail Server in a few weeks time which will be bundled with SCO UnixWare 7.1.3.

In an email to customers and partners, SCO\’s director of product management, Erik Hughes, said the change is \”due to intellectual property issues associated with the Linux operating system. SCO continues to honor our contractual relationships with customers; and will continue to support our existing SCOoffice customers on Linux. In accordance with this, we will continue to make user bump packs available to existing customers.\”

Hughes said pricing on the new version would be the same as the suspended SCOoffice bundle. \”Moving forward, SCO plans to provide it\’s next generation mail solution as a native application on both OpenServer 5.0.7 and UnixWare 7.1.3.\”
