Opportunity for professional Linux certification

The Meraka Institute have announced the date for the Linux Professional Institute (LPI) 101 exam to be held at their premises on June 30 at 9am.

As reported earlier this month, the institute planned to hold exams at Futurex. Unfortunately the amount of time between the notification and the actual exams was not enough for people to prepare themselves. For this reason, a full month’s notice has been given this time.

[1]Meraka[/1]’s Pumeza Ceza said that she is confident that this will give people enough time to get ready, adding that she is more than willing to guide examinees with their preparation.

The cost of the exam is R700, but discounts can be negotiated for group bookings.

Level one of the LPI certification covers basic skills for the Linux professional that are common across all distributions of Linux, while level two covers advanced skills common across all Linux distros. The level one certification is not a prerequisite for level two.

Ceza explained that currently they will only be running exams for level one, but if there is sufficient demand for level two, it may also be included.

For more information, Pumeza Ceza can be contacted on 012 841 2183 or pceza@csir.co.za. For updates on future opportunities to write the exam, go to www.lpi.org.za.
