Red Hat Enterprise on Amazon now in beta

By   |  November 27, 2007

As part of its collaboration with [1]Amazon[/1] Web Services, [2]Red Hat[/2] yesterday opened the beta for Red Hat Enterprise [3]Linux[/3] on Amazon’s Elastic Computer Cloud (EC2) infrastructure for public use. Unfortunately those wishing to test it will still have to whip out the credit card.

The partnership provides Red Hat Enterprise Linux platform as on-demand, pre-configured Amazon Machine Images (AMIs) within the Amazon EC2 infrastructure.

The company said that it was initially releasing AMIs for the latest releases of Red Hat Enterprise Linux and would add new AMIs for access by subscribers as they become available.

The available AMIs have been certified and tested within the Amazon EC2 environment and email support will be offered for the public beta.

Red Hat said that, while the software was well-proven, it anticipated modifications to the deployment models and use-cases during the beta period. Through the course of the beta the delivery of the services will be refined.
