Kickstart your IT business in 2008

By   |  December 19, 2007

Getting an IT business off the ground is hard work for anyone. So here’s an idea to give your business a power injection: The Cape IT Initiative (CITI) is looking for young IT companies to join its business acceleration campaign, called VeloCITI.

Part of the deal is that companies selected to join the programme get a whole host of business support including premises in CITI’s business accelerator at the Bandwidth Barn in Cape Town’s CBD. The Bandwidth Barn is already home to a fine selection of IT companies so you’ll be in good company.

Selected companies will also have access to a professional mentoring service, financial and business support as well as all the networking opportunities that go along with being a CITI member.

We have found that companies operating in the Bandwidth Barn are much more networked,” says. In a country where only 1.3% of our adult population are involved in entrepreneurial activities, working in isolation can be the fastest route to failure. Working in an environment surrounded by IT companies facing the same challenges allows companies to engage with their peers and, often together, come up with solutions to their business conundrums.

RedButton had the privilege in being selected for VeloCITI in 2007. I urge all young start-ups to apply for this fantastic program, you will be missing out if you don’t! The benefits we got from taking part are immeasurable and we experienced phenomenal growth not only in terms of hard figures but also in all aspects of our business.
