Boost your command line skills with Apropos

Linux: Sometimes the Linux command line is the most efficient way to get a job done. But, unless you’re a guru, you probably only know ten or so useful commands, leaving you pointing and clicking in the hope of a good result. If you know what it is that you want to do but not how to do it, then consider apropos, a search tool that helps out in times of need. Imagine that you have an .ogg media file you want to split into smaller bits but you’re not sure how to do it. Type apropos ogg at the command line prompt and in return you’ll get a list of commands related to ogg files. Apropos searches through the manual files of commands to find matches to your needs. A great way to learn about new commands that you may never have heard about before.
