By   |  June 25, 2008

The KDE development team has released KDE 4.1 beta 2, the latest release of the upcoming 4.1 KDE desktop. By the final release of 4.1 in July this year, most users should be able to move away permanently from KDE 3.

Some of the improvements in KDE 4.1 include usability improvements in Dolphin, KDE4’s filemanager, a number of enhancements in Gwenview, the default image viewer on Ubuntu, KDE 4.1 and a lot of bugs fixed.

Also included in this release are the first “bits and pieces of the Nepomuk Social Semantic Desktop [which] are becoming visible and more widely applicable.”

More detailed descriptions of changes in 4.1 beta 2 can be found at Techbase.
