RPC Data South Africa has received certification from Novell\’s SuSE Linux business unit to become the first official training partner for SuSE Linux in sub-Saharan Africa.

Christian Kroker, marketing director at RPC Data says \”high quality technical training in Africa is rare. RPC is delighted to add the SuSE Linux curriculum to our range of professional services. We see this relationship as a significant step toward expanding the use of Linux in the enterprise and the demand for SuSE Linux solutions, with which we have been working for some years.\”

RPC Data offers technical training at both its own Southern African training centres a well as through partners and travelling trainers who train on-site.

Kroker says the newly added SuSE curriculum prepares students for four levels of certification, starting with the SuSE Certified Linux Professional (SCLP). He says the SuSE courses are offered in accordance with the guidelines and support of the LPI (Linux Professional Institute) certification.

Jacques Van Der Merwe, Training Manager at RPC Data says \”our Linux professionals are our trainers, and that brings a wealth of field experience to our classroom. In most cases, we are training highly skilled personnel who have certification and experience with Microsoft technology, and our past experience shows that they quickly become open oource enthusiasts. Nevertheless, our training package caters for anyone with no previous knowledge of Linux through to expert system administrators.\”

\”We believe that Linux solutions will further encourage the growth of the African IT market and providing IT skills is a key part of ensuring sustainable growth,\” says Novell business manager Sally Donohoe.

RPC Data is a public company listed on the Botswana Stock Exchange.
