FreeBSD releases Java 6.0 binaries

By   |  August 28, 2008

The FreeBSD Foundation has released Java JDK and JRE 6.0 binaries for FreeBSD 6.x and 7.x. The installable binaries are built for i386 and amd64 architectures. The binaries can be found on the Foundation’s Java page.

“The FreeBSD Foundation has a licence with Sun Microsystems to distribute FreeBSD binaries for the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) and Java Development Kit (JDK). These implementations have been made possible through the hard work of the FreeBSD Java team as well as through donations to the FreeBSD Foundation that supported hardware, developer costs, and legal fees,” the foundation says.

Older JDK and JRE 5.0 binaries are still available but are now unsupported.
