Now VMWare ties up with Suse Linux …

By   |  February 26, 2009

Yesterday I wrote about how Red Hat had upped the ante in the virtualisation world with its new open source virtualisation lineup and its Microsoft-pact. Now VMWare has announced a new tie-up with Novell. The two companies said that the deal will enable independent software vendors to “build appliances powered by Suse Linux Enterprise and optimised for multiple platforms, including VMware ESX”. Novell also said that its Suse Linux Enterprise Server will also become a “fully-supported and optimised” guest operating system for VMware’s ESX platform. The collaboration is interesting in the context of recent announcements which has largely placed Microsoft, Red Hat and Citrix into one camp and Novell and VMWare into the other.
