Mozilla to delay Firefox 3.1 again, fourth beta planned

By   |  February 27, 2009

Mozilla this week said that it would add another beta release to the Firefox 3.1 development schedule. Developers said that they planned to finish with beta 3 within a week and then move on to beta 4. A fourth beta will push the final release of Firefox 3.1 into the second quarter of the year, or even later than that. Mike Shaver, Mozilla’s vice president of engineering said in an email this week that the team was “going to wrap up Beta 3 in the next week regardless of ‘upvar‘ status”. The primary bug holding back the developers affects Firefox 3.1’s new Javascript engine. A fourth beta release will follow beta 3 by about six weeks.
