Ubuntu gets KDE overhaul

The Kubuntu team late last week announced the first preview release of Kubuntu, a version of Ubuntu Linux with a KDE front-end. This preview released includes KDE 3.4 and includes both an Install CD as well as a bootable Live CD. The final release of Kubuntu 5.04 will be on April 6.

There are CD images of the preview release for Intel/x86, PowerPC and AMD64 at http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/releases/hoary/preview/.

Kubuntu is a KGX distribution for the desktop or the server that includes all of Ubuntu and comes with the latest KDE. The Kubuntu team are part of the Ubuntu community a. In its announcement the Kubuntu team said their intention is the \”best KDE distribution available. As with Ubuntu our releases will be supported for at least 18 months after release.\”
