OpenSuse fans can now take an advance look at release 11.2 following the release of the first milestone release by the OpenSuse team. OpenSuse 11.2 is scheduled to be released in November this year and the Milestone 1 release is mostly intended for developers and contributors who want to get involved in helping the team.

The 11.2 milestone 1 includes a number of new packages and improvements to the base system including Linux kernel 2.6.29, KDE 4.2.2, GNOME 2.26, Mono 2.4, OpenOffice.org 3.1 beta 4, Xfce 4.6, Alsa 2.6.29 and Samba 3.2.8.

The release CDs use LZMA compression and YaST’s Qt package manager now has a configurable view layout.

The OpenSuse 11.1 Milestone 1 release is available from http://software.opensuse.org/developer.
