Eucalyptus OSS cloud befriends Windows

Eucalyptus Systems has released an update to the commercial version of its open source private cloud software and has included support for Windows installations.

Version 2.0 of Eucalyptus Enterprise Edition can now run instance of Windows in a self-provisioned cloud as well as Linux, says Marten Mickos, former CEO of MySQL and now Eucalyptus Systems chief executive. Eucalyptus now also support all major hypervisors including VMWare, KVM, Xen and Microsoft’s HyperV.

Eucalyptus allows anyone to set up a cloud platform, which can be offered as a service internally or publicly.

Eucalyptus 2.0 also adds new accounting and user management features.
