Local software co offers SLA for OSS middleware

South African software house Dariel Solutions has launched a full service level agreement (SLA) for Jboss and PostgreSQL platforms.

Dariel says it chose to offer this service to the market as support of open source platforms is still not widely available locally. “Our offering is based on a monthly retainer fee agreement with customers that is tiered according to the time response required from a specific company,” says Dariel MD Malcolm Rabson.

“We are certainly one of the first companies to undertake an SLA that is aimed at configuration and utilisation support locally within these specific environments. In addition, we are able to offer significant development support on Hibernate, Spring, Tapestry and JSF frameworks.”

According to Rabson, end-to-end open source deployments need to be supported correctly to ensure true value business is derived from the solutions. “If OSS strategies are becoming part of the mainstream IT strategy process, professional expertise and support needs to be delivered to these organisations to ensure the management is undertaken correctly, which has meant the development of SLA in this environment that gives customers to certain guarantees and support clauses,” he says.
