Symantec launched its Critical System Protection 5.0 intrusion prevention system for Linux, Unix and Windows yesterday. According to Symantec, the solution provides “zero-day protection against application and operating systems attack”. The system uses a blend of signature and behaviour detection to keep heterogeneous environments safe. Symantec says that the new version offers improved auditing and compliance enforcement over the previous version, has a reporting function, and the management console has also seen an upgrade.
