More than three years after it was last seen in the KOffice 1.6 release Kexi, a Microsoft Access-like data manager, makes a return with the release of KOffice 2.2.0 release.

Microsoft releases Outlook PST tools under OSS licence

Microsoft this week added to it’s growing open source software collection by announcing open source PST data tools. The software, which was released under an Apache 2.0 license, will allow open source developers to work with Outlook’s PST file format.

Ubuntu releases second alpha of Karmic Koala

The Ubuntu team this morning released a second alpha of the upcoming Karmic Koala operating system, also known as Ubuntu 9.10. While it is still early days for Karmic, this release does give some insight into plans for the final release, scheduled for October this year.

KDE 4.3 beta 2 released for testing

The Fedora team yesterday released latest version of its Linux operating system, Fedora 11. The much-anticipated release from the Red Hat-backed community team promises to be one of the best Linux releases to date with Fedora’s reputation for making Linux as easy as possible increasing with each new release.

Google releases Linux, Mac versions of Chrome browser

The Google team yesterday announced the release of Linux and Mac OS X versions of its Chrome browser. The pre-beta developer builds of the browser can be downloaded now but the developer teams warns that the browser is not meant for general use.
