By   |  October 23, 2006

South Africa-developed laboratory information system Bika Lims 1.2 has been released. The new release is also ready for ISO 17025 accreditation and at least one accreditation using the software has been achieved.

Bika Lims is open source software built on Zope and Plone and coded in Python. The software includes web-based status tracking and result, workflow management and web portal management.

Bika Lims 1.2 can be downloaded from the Sourceforge website.

The BBK laboratory in Worcester, South Africa, has already been accredited using Bika Wine 1.2.

According to developers Bika Labs, “up to version 1.1, Bika Lims still carried many inherited references to Bika Wine, the branch Bika started out as. These have all been removed and the Lims can now be customised to any lab discipline.”

The new release includes a host of new features and updates and many bug fixes.
