Use KnowledgeTree in your own programs

KnowledgeTree, the commercial open source document management system, has announced the launch of the “Powered by KnowledgeTree” original equipment manufacturer (OEM) licensing programme. With this programme it intends to enable KnowledgeTree partners to make use of KnowledgeTree’s document management system within their own branded applications.

“KnowledgeTree provides OEMs and resellers with a powerful and easy to use document management platform for building their own innovative solutions. Branding is extremely important for our OEM partners,” says Daniel Chalef of Jam Warehouse, the developers of KnowledgeTree.

With the KnowledgeTree Enterprise Edition document management system, Jamhouse claims to provide a powerful plug-in and user interface template architecture that significantly reduces the cost of customisation and extension. Under the programme, partners may either license KnowledgeTree Enterprise Edition either as a pre-branded compiled application or in source code form.

The programme provides access to the document management feature-set of KnowledgeTree Enterprise Edition. Partners can either use the KnowledgeTree Commercial Installer platform to package their own-branded version of KnowledgeTree for Windows or Linux platforms or they have the option of embedding the application within their own offering.

With the licensing programme partners are able to choose how they pay royalties. They have the option of paying annuity royalties either per server or per user with pricing based around the partner’s expected sales volumes.

KnowledgeTree, which is built on the open source LAMP (Apache/MySQL/PHP) stack, is available in three editions: KnowledgeTree Enterprise, KnowledgeTree SMB and KnowledgeTree Open Source.
